Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP) is proud to announce the launch of
the 2025 Yellowknife International Film Festival (YKIFF), taking place November 5–9 across multiple venues in Yellowknife. Now in its 19th year, YKIFF is the Northwest Territories’ preeminent film and media event, spotlighting excellence in local, Indigenous, Canadian, and circumpolar filmmaking alongside global cinema.
Festival highlights include:
● Opening Night Film: Zacharias Kunuk’s Uiksaringitara (Wrong Husband),
● Tootoo, the heartwrenching story of Jordan Tootoo,
● TIFF sensation Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie,
● Sean Cisterna’s crowd-favourite Silver Screamers,
● Munya Mataruse documentary titled TITENDE in the Northern Shorts showcase.
Expanded Programming for 2025:
● Free daytime documentary screenings
● Free youth screenings Saturday and Sunday mornings
● Late-night horror and genre films: YKIFF After Dark
● YKIFF Live: local DJs performing 30 minutes before screenings
Returning festival features include:
● Free tickets for seniors,
● Northern Filmmaker Award (now in its second year), and Audience Choice,
● The Saturday Soirée promises an evening of live music and celebration with festival guests, sponsors, and the community.
